Wind gauges are unheated and may rime. Often you can tell when gauges are rimed or "iced" when the following occurs: Temperatures are near or below freezing and the wind direction does not change and appears stuck on a single direction for several consecutive hours. The wind speed may be rimed if readings of zero or near zero display for several hours during otherwise windy periods. (Jan 6, 2019)
This is a propane heated precipitation gauge. These gauges occasionally measure condensation (usually 0.01 inch hourly measurements) collecting inside the gauge during otherwise dry weather. The equipment temperature (EqTemp) is the temperature inside of the precipitation gauge. If it falls below freezing, the gauge will not melt snow and measure the snow water equivalent. (Jan 6, 2019)
